HANTSAR volunteers provide safety cover at Eastleigh for the Fire Service UK water rescue challenge.
HANTSAR were proud to support the Fire and Rescue Services at the 2016 United Kingdom Rescue Organisation (UKRO) Challenge held at Eastleigh on 8-10 September.
The UKRO Challenge is the premier event for UK fire services to showcase their skills and pass on good practice and new techniques. Members of HANTSAR’s water team, working with their colleagues from Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs, provided safety cover for the teams competing in the water rescue elements.
Nathan Allen, Water Lead for HANTSAR, said “UKRO is an amazing organisation and It was great to be involved and provide the teams with safety support as they competed in these challenges. This was also a fantastic opportunity for our volunteers to keep up to date with new water rescue ideas and techniques.”
HANTSAR’s water team is available to assist Hampshire Constabulary in water searches for missing people and is also to help in times of a national emergency such as flooding.
