HANTSAR exhibits at 999 Emergency Services Day

HANTSAR exhibits at the Hayling Island 999 Emergency Services Day

HANTSAR was delighted to be asked to exhibit at the annual Hayling Island 999 Emergency Services Day on Sunday 26 June.

We were pleased that so many, including Deputy Mayor Elaine Shimbart, were interested in the important voluntary service we provide to the people of Hampshire.

Many visitors expressed reassurance in learning there was an experienced, well-trained and professional team of volunteers who are available at any time, and in any weather, to assist the police in searching for vulnerable people who go missing.

At the event we held our popular children’s tombola which gave us the opportunity to discuss our activities with parents, some of whom expressed an interest in joining us in some capacity, whether operational or support.

In addition, young people were keen to try on some of the water based search kit and see how the throw lines are used.

We do not receive any external funding and have to raise all our own funds to enable us to carry out the work we do, therefore events of this nature are extremely important to raise our profile and for fundraising.
