HANTSAR meets new Assistant Chief Constable – David Hardcastle

HANTSAR meets David Hardcastle,
Hampshire’s new Assistant Chief Constable

On the 1st June, HANTSAR were pleased to host a meeting with David Hardcastle who has recently been appointed as Assistant Chief Constable for Hampshire.

Our Chairman, Vice Chairman and Police Liaison Officer explained that HANTSAR has been working closely with Hampshire Police, and other agencies, since 2003 and our highly trained volunteers are on call, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in all weathers to search for vulnerable missing persons.

The workings of our control vehicles were explained and also the process that takes place when a call-out occurs. Members of our Water Team were present to provide details of our water capability and how we support police in this area.

Mr Hardcastle was very impressed with the commitment of our volunteers and even more so when we explained that HANTSAR receives no external funding and relies on our own volunteers to fundraise, pay their own expenses when attending call-outs and supply their own kit and equipment.
